This month’s artist interview + upcoming events ✨
Make sure to check out Phoebe Adams’s incredible interview, fabulous hat, and brilliant philosophy of the world
Looking is the first thing: making is what follows. This is exploring and not knowing the outcome. - Phoebe Adams
“My interest in biomorphic forms remains, and is now coupled with the realistic terrors of our changing environment. Between outward traits of a given landscape, and the long interactions we humans have had with specific places lie our fundamental feelings about ourselves. As farmers, ranchers, fishermen, visitors, artists, we move in a dynamic that now more than ever, asks us to examine the consequences of our daily actions. Time is of the essence. We are a thing in time. As an artist, I don't depict the literal landscapes I inhabit but rather try to show my observations about these landscapes; mostly Maine and Western landscapes. I call it "the Emily Dickinson effect," this close observation of well-known places, and what comes from noticing very small things. What appears to be fixed in plain sight in the landscape in in fact altered.”
Phoebe Adams received a BFA from University of the Arts in 1976 and an MFA from SUNY Albany in 1978. She attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1977. She has had numerous one-person shows in New York, Los Angeles and more recently in Maine. She has participated in prestigious group shows in New York, Houston, Minneapolis, and other US cities and worldwide. Her work is in the collection of the Walker Art Center, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and others.
Preparation for Demolition

For all of you who have visited our office in Norway, you know that this is the emptiest it’s looked in a long while. We spent our past Wednesday moving out all of the bits and pieces that constructed our office, in preparation for the radical transition that is upcoming. If you are interested in joining us as we turn our office into a homebrew rage room- that is to say, demolishing it into small pieces to be ferried away in the dumpster- before it becomes remodelled into a beautiful bathroom and shower area.
If you are interested in tearing this place apart on Wednesday from 10am - 2pm, drop us a line! Georgia would love to include you in our lunch. Let us know any dietary restrictions so she can make something delicious that everyone can enjoy.
We are doing everything we can to keep Daniel from doing it himself before Wednesday.
