Join the Lights Out Team!
We’re bringing on a year-long VISTA member to help develop our co-working space and community-centered vision for the arts in Norway, Maine.
With the Americorps – Goodwill VISTA Partnership we are looking for a qualified and inspired individual who can take on volunteer organization and fundraising leadership, as well as expand our outreach in local communities in order to increase access to the arts and creative resources in Maine. Our goal with the renovation and restoration of Norway’s old snowshoe factory is to build an evolving hotspot of local collaboration and statewide coordination.
Lights Out’s new location will soon be home to dozens of small businesses, local organizations, artists, makers, and educators.
There are four zones planned for the factory renovation and restoration, each with its own use.
In the historic factory building, the first floor will be dedicated to shared office and studio space.
A multi-purpose dance studio will take up the second floor.
The newer warehouse building, built in the 1970’s, will become a gallery and event space.
The daylight basement will be dedicated to a community makerspace and tool library.

Where does this project stand now?
I love this. We wanted to have a Makerspace in one of the Sanford factories. I still love the idea, but our problem is loving too many ideas, haha. So instead I'm just putting the mills in my writing. :)
